Wildcard Sign Cxzi to Complete CS2 Roster After Peeping Benching
Wildcard have officially signed Danny “Cxzi” Strzelczyk, completing their Counter-Strike 2 lineup just days after benching Jaxon “Peeping” Cornwell.
The move comes shortly after PGL Bucharest, where Wildcard showed competitive form but failed to secure a playoff spot. Peeping struggled individually at the event, posting a 0.74 rating across nine maps, which ultimately led to his removal from the starting five.
Cxzi, meanwhile, becomes available following his benching from Marsborne, making the transfer a timely solution for Wildcard.
Cxzi joins from Marsborne after roster overhaul
Cxzi spent around six months with Marsborne, where he maintained a solid 1.12 rating, primarily competing in the North American circuit.
However, the organization recently underwent a major rebuild, benching four players as part of a long-term reset. Head coach Hunter “Lucid” Tucker explained the decision:
“Things were starting to get very bloated,”
“We wanted to build a new, younger, and hopefully exciting team.”
This overhaul opened the door for Cxzi’s move to Wildcard.
Wildcard’s rebuild continues after PGL Bucharest
The signing is part of a broader restructuring project within Wildcard. Earlier this year, the team added Nemanja “nEMANHA” Đukić to bring more structure and leadership.
Speaking about the move, nEMANHA expressed confidence in the team’s direction:
“It was a good option for me, for my future.”
“I see a bright future with this team.”
Despite falling short of playoffs at PGL Bucharest, Wildcard pushed strong opponents and demonstrated potential at the tier-one level. The team’s stated goals remain clear:
“To play more tournaments like this… and to make the next Major.”
A second chance for Cxzi
For Cxzi, the move represents another opportunity to prove himself at a higher level.
Reflecting on a previous roster cut earlier in his career, he said:
“We were still practicing the day before, so I didn’t know.”
“I think I need to prove myself that I can play on that level.”
His addition brings experience and stability to a roster aiming to break into consistent tier-one competition.
